The Dutch PVC recycling specialist and the design flooring manufacturer Novalis Innovative Flooring have decided to cooperate in an international model project. Initially, this will involve the central collection of installation waste from flooring produced by Novalis and equipped with a Digital Product Passport in selected European countries, and the return of this waste to European production by the Dutch company.

"As a recycling specialist, we are always interested in innovative solutions for real material recycling. By easily identifying the ingredients contained in the returns via the Digital Product Passport, we can ensure that recyclates can also be processed by other industries and fed into the production process with pinpoint accuracy."
Huib van Gulik (CEO,

"We see this project as an opportunity to establish a recycling system for LVT flooring in Europe that already exceeds the requirements from the European Commission's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation. By fully declaring the ingredients and at the same time consistently switching to mono-polymer structures, we not only guarantee the reuse of our recyclates as valuable raw materials, but also offer real added value to architects, consumers and flooring installers."
Joost Luhmann (Sustainability Manager, Novalis)

The ambitious project will start in Finland, Denmark and France beginning of 2024. In the long term, both companies are also working on a take-back system for flooring that has reached the end of its life.
